Special character is a character that is not on your keyboard - such as é, â, etc. You can insert special characters by using Character Map or by pressing a combination of keys on your keyboard.

To locate on your computer c:\Windows\System32\charmap.exe. Right click to create a Desktop shortcut. Sometimes it is located via Start > Accessories > Character Map.
